Annual Dinner

CLUB president John Harley welcomed 48 members, wives and guests to Kyrle Probus’s annual dinner at the Chase Hotel, Ross, where they enjoyed an evening of good food, good wine and most of all, good company.

Grace was given by member Don Nicholson and the toast to the ladies and guests was proposed by vice-president David Kennedy.

John, presiding over the last event of his year in office, said he had been honoured to serve as president and at 82, the oldest president in the club’s history. He thanked social secretary, Robin Nicol, for organising a splendid evening and a wonderful variety of social events throughout the year.

Robin then took the assembled gathering on a ‘trip down memory lane’, looking back at the events over the past year. Highlights included the Arts and Crafts Exhibition, the visit to Highgrove, home of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Diamond Jubilee Lunch at Hampton Court and the September break in Tenby.

Robin’s resume was backed up with a continuous slideshow of events playing in the foyer, for the diners to view.
