Arts and Crafts Exhibition

THE variety and quality of the work from members and their wives made Kyrle Probus Club’s recent Arts and Crafts Exhibition a most successful event.

There were 19 exhibitors in total, with paintings in various media from Vida Davies, Brian Wozencroft, Rosemary Oddy, Don Nicholson, Dorothy Newman, Margaret Morris, Jeff Morris and Ellen Stahl. There were also framed photographs from Louise Hamilton.

Displays included jewellery from recycled materials and a paper collage by Vida Davies; embroidery items by Jean Turner, Pauline Powell, Lorna Nicholson and Louise Hamilton; model aircraft by John Harley and David Oddy; crewelwork curtain and cushion by Gail Harley.

Handmade greetings cards were displayed by Lois Knowles; wood carving by Brian Wozencroft; clay pots from Janet Duffield; abstract coloured light creation from John Hatcher; glasswork by Don Nicholson, while Betty Rich contributed a 1930s Merrythought chimpanzee.

There were also demonstrations by Gail Harley of her crewelwork, Lois Knowles with her cardmaking and Don Nicholson creating his glasswork.

The exhibition, which was was organised by Don Nicholson, was followed by an enjoyable buffet lunch.
