Golf Matches and Treasure Hunt

THE club’s annual golf match against Vaga Probus Club of Ross had to be cancelled this year because of the appalling weather, although the usual post-match dinner still went ahead and was enjoyed by all who attended.

Kyrle Probus still had a golfing victory to celebrate however, when they won the annual match against Wokingham Probus, recently. They picked up the Paul Nottage Trophy – named after our member and golfer who carved the wooden base for the trophy - for the first time since 2003.

Treasure Hunt

The social events calendar continued with one of the highlights of the year, the annual car treasure hunt and this proved as popular – and as frustrating – as usual.

A good number of club members, spouses and friends took to the road and arrived at their final destination and watering hole, the Old Court at Whitchurch, with friendships and marriages happily still intact, despite the best efforts of Keith Glover and David Hudson, who produced a demanding set of clues to be solved.

Everyone enjoyed a hearty meal and much-appreciated liquid refreshment before the answers to the clues and the prizewinners were announced.  This year’s winner was the team of Keith and Jean Leyshon and Brian and Mary Wozencroft, closely followed by last year’s joint winners Mike and Shirley Eastwood and Jean Turner.
