Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee Card

PICTURED here is the card of congratulations
sent by Kyrle Probus Club. Ross-on-Wye,
 to

Her Majesty the Queen
 to mark her Diamond Jubilee
.

The message inside the card read:

‘Here’s Health Unto Your Majesty

On the Occasion of Your Diamond Jubilee

From the Members of Kyrle Probus

Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire’

The card was designed by Lois Knowles, wife of Kyrle Probus member Mike Knowles and she was assisted by Gail Harley, wife of club president, John. Gail embroidered the floral panel on the front of the card and the design was carefully chosen to depict the following:

The rose representing the Queen; rosemary to remember all that the Queen has done; forget-me-not so that the Queen will never forget her people and their respect for her; the hops and mistletoe both grown more in Herefordshire than in any other county. The embroidery also represents the four seasons of the year with the Queen representing Spring; rose and rosemary rhe Summer; the hops, Autumn and mistletoe the Winter.

Club president John Harley, also produced a label which was affixed to the back of the card’s envelope, stating that the sender was the president of Kyrle Probus Club, Ross-on-Wye..
